Development is key to the progress of education and our society. It is also key for the wellbeing and retention of individuals. Under the teaching standards, teachers must complete continued professional development, commonly known as CPD, however the content of this is not regulated and is down to individual schools to provide as they see fit.
Following our research we are concerned that the appropriate support offered to achieve successful CPD varies within settings and can often be far and few between and certainly lacking the rigour that it should. We strongly believe that CPD can be limiting and that teachers should instead partipate within and be provided with the resources, support and time to undertake Continued Personal and Professional Development or CPPD, as we like to call it.
